The last few weeks have been a flurry of activity. I’ve been working on site updates, adding new products, and testing everything to make sure it works.
It’s been a long time coming but the online shop is back up and running!

Exciting news for my Chicago clients with a love for fashion, artisan jewelry, and weekend markets! Before I hopped the pond this summer, a few of you reached out and asked how to purchase ZKD jewelry since my shop would be down during the transition. As I was pondering my options, I was contacted by Luisa, one of my favorite pop-up organizers. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect!
As Luisa told me, “It was meant to be.”

As excited as I am for my upcoming move to Germany, there was one final thing I had to take care of. On June 25th, my Galleria shop will be closing.
I gotta say, this was probably one of the more difficult decisions I had to make. I tried coming up with scenarios to keep things open, but realized I just wouldn’t be able to maintain consistent inventory. I’ve had the most awesome experiences being a vendor at this wonderful spot, and leaving is definitely bittersweet for me.

This holiday season has shaped up to be a great one over here at Zurina Ketola Designs. This is our first holiday season with the new site, and I’m so thrilled! Since this time of year is busy for everyone, I made sure that the site would be optimized for mobile devices, which is a great way to maximize your time and shop on the go. There has definitely been a flurry of activity in the studio, but don’t forget, Christmas is fast approaching! My current lead time for order fulfillment is approximately two days. Your order will ship via USPS Priority Mail, which advertises that the service can get your package to you within 1-3 days, depending on where you are. Make sure to place your online orders by Sunday, December 17th to ensure delivery of your jewelry before Christmas. This season is in full swing, and in that spirit, I have some exciting news! During the holidays over the last few years, I’ve noticed frantic shoppers looking for something they can’t seem to find anywhere. Curated gift sets featuring a range of handmade goods from a variety of small batch artisans and businesses. It seemed like a great idea to get everything together in a perfect little package, ready for giving, so I started taking a look around to see what was out there. In my search, I found sets that were really cute, but mass produced. For artisan goods, the closest thing I could find was getting multiples from a single source. This seemed pretty close, and it’s something I do with my jewelry. But even with this as an option people were still looking for more. I took note, since it seemed like a project worth pursuing. I’ve been looking into it ever since, and I’m so glad I did! Over the last couple months, I’ve been working with an incredible group of talented artists, makers and small businesses to bring you two awesome, limited edition Artist Collection Naughty and Nice Gift Bags just in time for the holidays! Everything can use a little update every now and then, and I make it a point evaluate my signature handmade jewelry designs regularly. One of the most important parts of my job as a jewelry designer is listening to customer feedback to see where things might need attention. The approach will often depend on the product itself. In some cases it can mean discontinuing a product, and other times it means taking a second look and updating a design. The latter is the best approach to take when the jewelry in question is especially popular with customers, and is the path I’ve taken with my crochet cotton and prosperity bracelet design updates. I’ll be selling my handcrafted jewelry designs at Randolph Street Market‘s Indie Designer Mart this weekend! My booth will be set up Saturday, October 28th and Sunday, October 29th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm with some of my newest and best selling jewelry designs in tow! This is one of my favorite Chicago markets to attend. It happens on a monthly basis at Plummer’s Hall, which is just west of downtown Chicago. I started selling my jewelry there a couple years ago, and always look forward to coming back! It’s such a blast – I love the atmosphere, meeting both new and repeat customers, visiting with some of my favorite local Chicago vendors, and of course taking a moment to walk the market myself to see what’s new. Read on to find out about the sales I’ll be offering at the show! Continue reading “Best Selling Jewelry on Sale at Randolph Street Market 10/28-10/29 🛍” →
A major goal for me over the last year was to finally get the jewelry website up and running, which gave me a lot of motivation to brush up and expand my photography skills. As a self taught jewelry designer and lover of all things creative, I really wanted to learn how to take beautiful pictures to showcase my jewelry. From the beginning, way back in 2002, I’ve been taking pictures for my business and learning how to improve my pictures. As much as I enjoy the process of learning, at the time I quickly discovered that photographing jewelry has very specific challenges. Attempting to capture all those small, intricate details and colors can be quite difficult. Especially if you don’t know anything about photography in the first place, which described my situation pretty well when I started. But you gotta start somewhere, right?
